Inspiration

Inspired by - and longing for - travels in India, I’ve designed some playful animal treasures for you to snuggle up to, to decorate your home with, and to add to your costume collection.

Please meet the intricately adorned Jaipur Elephant and Kutchi Camel, and the fiercely beautiful Bengal Tiger.

Elephant and Camel are hand-illustrated, screen-printed and made into cuddly teddies, and I’m very happy to say that the long-awaited Animalesque Tiger is now a permanent member of the family! All items are lined with beautiful Indian block-printed cottons or vintage silk saris, each piece with its own unique charm.

Description

The Cotton Bengal Tiger Teddy comes in two different colourways;

Printed in charcoal grey on natural cream organic cotton and lined with blue diamond block printed cotton.

Or

Printed in dusty brown on natural cream organic cotton, and lined with Offset Warehouse organic tulipa block printed cotton

Fabrics and Techniques

Each piece is an original Animalesque illustration, screen-printed and handmade using an archive of mindfully sourced textiles. This limited-edition collection is printed on organic cotton canvas, burnt ochre linen, and surplus theatre velvet. Each piece is lined with beautiful cottons of Indian block prints, ikat weave and African wax prints, and all finished with satin ribbons.

It’s been a joy to team up with Offset Warehouse and work with a selection of their gorgeous fairtrade and organic Indian block printed and batik cottons for my Bengal Tiger designs.

The OW fabrics that I have chosen are all hand spun and handwoven using organic cotton, so the farmers and cotton processors do not come into contact with pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers. The material is woven within a community that is certified fair trade by the World Fair Trade Organisation.
